CEDAR RAPIDS – A man was injured after being struck by his own, unoccupied car in the Heinz parking lot Wednesday night.
According to police, the Heinz employee started his red GMC Jimmy, then left the vehicle to go back inside quickly at 4601 C St. SW. As he was walking to the entrance, he realized his car had started moving forward, police said.
He ran in front of the car and tried to stop it from hitting another parked vehicle, but was pinned between the two. Employees called police at 10:25 p.m.
Officers said he was transported to a nearby hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
