Wellman residents are without water this afternoon after a major water main broke Tuesday.
According to city officials, the break occurred at the intersection of 8th Ave. and 7th St. The street is closed off for repairs.
Water was shut off after 1 p.m. Tuesday, a press release said, affecting the majority of the city’s water customers. As of 4 p.m., officials said Public Works employees estimate the water will remain off for about two more hours.
When the water is back on, residents will be under a boil order until further notice. Any water used for drinking, cooking, showering, or other personal use should be boiled first.
According to a press release, officials estimate the boil order will end by this Friday.
