Trial reset for Iowa City man accused of sexually assaulting 14-year-old girl

IOWA CITY — Trial was rescheduled this week (Wed., 9/1) for an Iowa City man accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in the pedestrian mall in June.

Chad P. Anciaux, 23, charged with third-degree sexual abuse, waived his right to a speedy trial and Judge Vern Robinson reset the trial for Nov. 29.

Police said Anciaux gave the girl an unknown beverage that caused her to pass out, and when she regained consciousness she was being sexually assaulted several blocks away from her previous location.

Anciaux told police the sex was consensual and he believed the girl was 15 years old.
