String of burglaries reported in NW Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS – At least seven storage sheds have been burglarized in a northwest Cedar Rapids neighborhood in the last few days, police said.

Four of the burglaries were reported in the 5600 block of Skyline Court NW, and a fifth was in the 5500 block of Skyline Drive NW. Two others were nearby, in the 5200 and 5300 blocks of E Avenue NW.

In all the burglaries, police said padlocks were cut. Tools valued at $300 were taken from one of the sheds on E Avenue NW. In three cases, nothing was taken, police said.

According to the reports, the burglaries happened sometime between Sunday and Wednesday evening of this week.

Police have no suspects. Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said investigators will examine the padlocks for fingerprints.
