Jury couldn’t reach unanimous decision in sexual abuses case

IOWA CITY — The trial of a man accused of sexual abuse resulted in a hung jury Thursday in Johnson County District Court.

Jury members were unable to reach a verdict in the case of Andre D. White, 39, of an unknown address, who is charged with second-degree sexual abuse.

The case will likely be retried at a later date.

White, police said held a knife to a woman’s neck while sexually abusing her Jan. 22. White sexually assaulted the woman twice and threatened to kill her and her son if she screamed or reported the incident, according to a police report.
