Starting at noon today, residents and businesses in parts of the City of Robins will experience a disruption in water service. A water main was damaged during a construction project requiring immediate repair. The repairs are expected to take 4-6 hours meaning that people returning to their homes after work may be without water. The outage is expected to affect between 200-300 homes.
The area of Robins affected by this outage is as follows:
West Main Street between Robins Road and North Center Point Road Including the Wildflower and Evergreen additions.
This water disruption is only for a section of Robins and does not affect water customers in Cedar Rapids. The Cedar Rapids Water Division will closely monitor the situation and issue updates as they become available.
If residents have questions, they can call Cedar Rapids Water Division Customer Service at (319) 286-5900. Questions can also be directed to Robins City Hall at (319) 393-0588.
Once water service is restored to this section of Robins, residents may see a milky color or cloudiness in their water. This is the result of air in the line. Residents should run their tap for 5-10 minutes to help clear the air. If the cloudiness persists for more than 24 hours please call the Cedar Rapids Water Division at (319) 286-5900 and workers will perform additional flushing.
