Dept. of Defense: Waterloo Soldier Dies in Afghanistan

The Department of Defense today announced an Iowa soldier has died in Afghanistan.

The Pentagon reports Command Sgt. Major John Laborde, 53, of Waterloo died Thursday at the Kandahar Air Field in Afghanistan.

The Department reports Command Sgt. Major Laborde died after a non-combat related incident. He was assigned with the 649th Regional Support Group, out of Cedar Rapids.
